It's official. A new zoning change will allow sexually oriented businesses in the industrial zone here.
But the new city ordinance passed recently won't allow such businesses to locate within 1,000 feet of a group home now in the northern industrial area. Earlier, the City Council agreed sexually oriented businesses could also not locate within 1,000 feet of a school or church. The new ordinance keeps sexually oriented businesses out of downtown or other areas where city fathers especially don't want them. The city has no sex clubs now nor has one been proposed. But city officials wanted to be ready in case.
Industrial zones here are on the north edge of town, north of I-15 and in the south and southeast near the Fingerhut building.
