On Dec. 1, 1997, Jean F. Tanner, 70, passed away peacefully after a long and valiant fight.

She was born to James L and Thirza McBride Fackrell on Feb. 7, 1927 in Eden, Utah. She was a graduate of Weber High School and attended Weber College, serving as president of the La Dianeda sorority. She married James R. Tanner on Feb. 15, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She had one son, Russell S. Tanner (Jeri), of Fruit Heights; and two daughters, Erin T. McAllister (Rick) and Stacy T. Tanner (Greg), both of Orem.

She was an active member of the LDS Church; served with her family on a five year building mission to Europe (1960-65); served faithfully in various ward and stake auxiliary positions, especially with the youth. She was an avid genealogist having served a decade in the name extraction program and family history supervision. She enjoyed nine years in the Washington, D.C. area associated with the temple.

She enjoyed travel, various cultures and serving others. She hosted numerous foreign exchange students in her home over the years. Her hobbies included knitting, handicrafts and family history.

She is survived by her husband, of Milton; three children; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille, LaRay, Hollis, and Virginia; one brother, Lynn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997 at 12 noon in the Milton Ward Chapel, 1255 N. Morgan Valley Drive, Milton. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral directors, Walker Mortuary, Morgan, Utah. Interment, Milton Cemetery.
