Jay (Ted) Edward Chidester, age 51 of Lehi, died Dec. 25, 1997 at his home of cancer.
He was born Nov. 28, 1946 in Lehi, Utah, son of Joshua Edward and Ora Pearl Gurney Chidester. He married Beverly Jean Penn, Sept.7, 1968 in Covington, Kentucky; marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Sept. 13, 1968.Ted graduated from Lehi High School and attended BYU. He was an electrician and worked at Geneva Steel. He served in the LDS Church as Elders' Quorum President, Deacons' Advisor, High Priest Group Leader and assistant, and many years in scouting and in various other church callings.
Survived by his wife of Lehi; four sons and three daughters, Bryan, Jeff, Jim, Blake, Jaymie (Kenny) Brittain, all of Lehi, Brandi (Joby) Romano, West Jordan; and Brooke (Rocky) Adams, Midvale; seven grandchildren; grandmother, Serelda Duncan, Florence, Kentucky.; sisters, Ann (Clyde) Turner, Alpine; Janae (Don) Yates, and Louise (Mike) Bowman, both of Lehi; Kathy (Harold) Beratto, Riverton; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral, Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Lehi Utah LDS Stake Center, 200 No. Center St. Friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. and also Tuesday at the Mortuary, 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial in the Lehi City Cemetery.
