Astronaut David Wolf wants the world to boldly take on what only Russia has done before: Build a space station.

"Of course, such worthwhile endeavors never come risk-free," Wolf said in a two-minute New Year's message videotaped from Russia's Mir station and played by NASA Monday. "We will have failures. There will be problems, and we will have to gather ourselves together and move forward from those boldly."Wolf, a 41-year-old doctor, has lived on Mir with two Russians since September.

The United States, Russia, the European Space Agency, Japan and Canada are partners in the station, which will be assembled in orbit.
