Miriam Lucille Hurst Ethington, 72, the Matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully on December 5, 1997, after a valiant fight with cancer.

Born December 6, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio to Margaret and Howard Hurst. Married the love of her life, Kenneth T. Ethington, Sr., June 29, 1945. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He went ahead to prepare the way and they are now reunited.Miriam is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Holladay 24th Ward. Miriam's family was her life and she will live on through them. She was the #1 fan and avid supporter of the Utah Jazz. Miriam was a supreme example of love and charity, and has truly earned the title of "Peacemaker".

She is survived by her children, Ken and Melissa Ethington, Santa Clara; Bruce and Diane Ethington, Bountiful; Kevin and Debbie Ethington, Don and Janene Ethington, Salt Lake City; and Trudy and Allen Casey, Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by 41 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 So. 200 East, Salt Lake City, at 12 noon Tuesday, December 9, 1997. Viewing will be one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
