MOLDY OLDIE

Jell-O, the famed jiggling gelatin was invented in LeRoy, N.Y., in 1897. And the 100-year celebration has begun.

Note the original box of Jell-O that described the product as a "delicate, delightful and dainty" dessert.

In small letters, the manufacturer is listed as the POSTUM COMPANY INC.

Ah ha! We've discovered the reason why Utahns LOVE the stuff!

But the question remains . . . why green?

EXPLOSIVE REVELATION!

On a recent Rosie O'Donnell show, the Trivia Queen revealed that Mikey, Quaker Oat's Life cereal kid who was said to "eat anything" is not deceased.

She was referring to the rumor that has run rampant for years - the one about Mikey's tummy exploding after he ate an entire package of Pop Rocks candy, washed down with a Coke.

It's not true. His tummy did not explode.

So glad to know that! Maybe he'll show up as a candidate for the next presidential election.

His slogan? POP ROCKS!

YOUR OWN PRIVATE UTAH?

Featured in Food Arts magazine recently was a piece about two of our local chefs of note.

Valley Game and Gourmet is marketing a series of greeting cards promoting Utah restaurants and lodges. Each card bears a chef portrait by watercolor artist Charmain Schuh of Boulder, Colo. A wild game recipe appears on the back. (The cards are blank inside).

Shown in the magazine was a card featuring David Derfel and Mikel Trapp of Stein Eriksen Lodge. A set of six is $11.95. To order call 1-800-521-2156.
