Veteran Utah auto dealer Arnold Wilmore "Bill" Johnson, 73, died Feb. 16, 1997, in Bountiful.

Known for his advertising slogan, "The last of the little guys," Mr. Johnson operated Menlove Dodge Toyota in Bountiful for the past 35 years. The dealership was launched in 1961 as Rambler Village with the help of his father-in-law, Roy Menlove, and his wife, Carol Menlove Johnson. They acquired the Toyota franchise in 1963 and the Dodge franchise in 1965.Mr. Johnson served as an Army Air Force pilot in World War II and was a member of the University of Utah basketball team that won the National Invitational Tournament in 1947 in New York City. He majored in English and journalism at the U. and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

In 1950 he worked as a sports writer for the Deseret News.

Mr. Johnson was an avid golfer and a member of the Salt Lake Country Club, Oakridge Country Club and Bloomington Country Club.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Bountiful Regional Center, formerly known as Valley Music Hall, off I-15 exit 318 in Bountiful. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the center. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
