A man who stole furniture and other items from his deceased girlfriend's apartment was ordered Tuesday to spend 60 more days in jail.

Dustin Judd, 22, Provo, pleaded guilty in November to theft, a third-degree felony, for taking items from the apartment of Lissa Beals, 25, on Sept. 9. Beals died the day before when she was run over by several vehicles on I-15 south of Provo.Police believe the two were arguing while traveling along the interstate when Judd stopped the vehicle and Beals got out. After Judd drove away, investigators believe Beals lay down on the freeway and was run over at least three times. The death was ruled a suicide.

Fourth District Judge Lynn W. Davis said sending Judd to prison is not appropriate because the offense is Judd's first as an adult. Davis placed Judd on three years probation and ordered him to serve 90 days in jail. However, the judge gave Judd credit for 30 days already served. Also, Judd can spend the last 30 days in an alcohol and drug treatment program.

Davis also ordered Judd to pay $740 in fines and fees and any restitution as determined by Adult Probation and Parole.
