Victor William Pratt Mecham, 84, passed away February 3, 1997 of a heart attack.
Born October 31, 1912, Burley, ID, to Ephraim Albert Mecham and Helen Grace Pratt Mecham. Married Elinor Wilsted, December 1, 1934. Raised in Salt Lake City, he taught school, worked at the Remington Arms plant during World War II, worked at Hanford, Washington on the Manhattan Project, and worked 33 years for D&RG Railroad.Survived by wife and daughters, Sherolyn (Karl) Pedersen, Salt Lake City; Helen Kay (Arthur) Wittaker, Kaysville; Susan (Tom) Burgess, Salt Lake City; Nancy (Lowell) Groberg, Sandy; Elaine (Hal) Bond, Riverton; Leslie (Curtis) Groberg, Woods Cross; Teri (Bryant) Schroeder, Parker, CO; Victoria (Rolf) Drogose, Salt Lake City; Ronilee (Randall) Carpenter, Centerville; Gayle (Stephen) Maynard, Taylorsville; brother, Paul L. Mecham, Salt Lake City; sisters, Alice Volkoff, CA; Harriett Scott, Salt Lake City; 46 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by daughter, Elinor Jeanne, and one grandson, David Russell McDonnell, and brothers and sisters.
Remains to University of Utah Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Memorial service to be held Wednesday, February 5, 1997 at the Canyon Rim Fourth Ward, 3051 South 2900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, 11 a.m. Friends and family may call at the chapel from 10-11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the U of U School of Medicine.
