Our beloved Ariel R. Davis returned to his Heavenly Father on February 6, 1997 at home after an illness, he was 84 years old.

He was born February 14, 1912 the oldest of six children to Rual D. and Mary Kitchen Davis of Provo, Utah. He graduated from Provo High School in 1931 and later graudated from Brigham Young University with a degree in physics. He married Dorothy Jean Harding on March 27, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Ariel moved to Salt Lake where he worked as a tool maker at the Remington Arms Company until December 1943. He joined the United States Navy in January 1944 and served in the Pacific until December 1945.

After returning home he opened his own business known as the Ariel Davis Manufacturing Company where he manufactured his own lighting inventions. In 1953 he moved his company to Salt Lake City where he and his brother Myron operated the company and sold his stage and industrial lighting equipment throughout th e United States and Canada. Ariel held over fifty U.S. Patens for his stage and industrial lightening. He is listed in "Who's Who in America" and "Who's Who in Am erican Theater."

In 1977 Ariel moved back to Provo after his company was sold. He was priviledged to use an office in the Clyde Building at BYU where he became proficient in the use of computers. He hoped to help Engineering students write and draw their own inventions on the computer. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints holding the office of High Priest.

He is survived by his wife, of Provo; sons, Ronald A. (Ann) Davis, Provo; and Steven R. (Debra) Davis, Sandy; seven grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, George A. Davis, Sandy; Robert E. Davis, Salt Lake City; and Alice Broadbent, Lehi. He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother, and one granddaughtger.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 11, 1997, at 1 p.m. in the Edgemont North Stake Center, 4300 North Canyon Road, Provo. Friends may call Monday evening, from 6-8 p.m., at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, or Tuesday, at the Ward Chapel, between 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
