Lyricist Ben Raleigh, who won a Grammy for writing the Lou Rawls hit "Love Is a Hurtin' Thing," died in a kitchen fire. He was 83.

Raleigh was cooking in his Hollywood apartment at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when a burner ignited his robe and he was engulfed in flames, coroner's spokesman Scott Carrier said.
