Lisa Hosac scored 13 points, all in the second half, and No. 12 Virginia advanced to the Sweet 16 of the women's NCAA tournament for the 11th straight year with a 65-46 victory over Utah on Sunday.
The Cavaliers (23-7), who have opened the tournament at home for 12 straight seasons, will play the winner of Monday's game between No. 3 Stanford and Texas Tech.Virginia (23-7) advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 11th consecutive year. The Cavaliers will next play in the West Regional semifinals next Saturday in Missoula, Mont.
Utah (25-6) fell to 1-8 in its NCAA tournament history. The Utes had never won a tournament game until they beat Iowa State 66-57 Friday night.
DeMya Walker added 12 points and Monick Foote 10 for the Cavaliers, who brought the nation's No. 1 field goal defense into the game and put it on display. They held Utah to 17-for-57 shooting, or 29.8 percent.
Julie Krommenhoek led the Utes with 14 points and Laura Ross had 10. Alli Bills, who led the Utes with 16 points in their first-round victory, missed all six of her shots and went scoreless. She did have nine assists.
Virginia led 49-34 with 9 minutes left and seemed primed to put the Utes away. But Lisa Thueson scored on a putback and added a free throw, Laura Ross scored inside and Krommenhoek hit two free throws to make it 49-41.
Virginia then did put the game away, scoring 12 of the next 15 points.
The Cavaliers outscored Utah 21-6 over the final 11:10 of the first half to take a 33-22 lead at the break. Walker started the run with two baskets inside, and Kate Mooney and Mimi McKinney followed with 3-pointers.
The Utes, meantime, went almost seven minutes without scoring after a 7-0 run had put them ahead 16-12. Sara Works' basket with 4:45 left broke a drought in which Utah was 0-for-9 from the floor with three turnovers.
For the half, Utah was 8-for-31 shooting, or 25.8 percent, against the nation's No. 1 field goal defense. Virginia opponents shot 33.5 percent.WEST
Georgia 80, Arizona 74
At Athens, Ga., Kedra Holland-Corn made one free throw and Signe Antvorskov added two more in the closing seconds to preserve sixth-ranked Georgia's victory Sunday over Arizona in the NCAA West Region second round as the Lady Dogs nearly blew a late 18-point lead.
Arizona's 3-point basket by Adia Barnes with 35 seconds left got the Wildcats within 77-74, keying a 25-10 run in the last five minutes after Georgia had taken a 67-49 lead with 5:32 left.

Old Dominion 69, Purdue 65
At Norfolk, Va., Mery Andrade scored five points in overtime Sunday, giving top-seeded Old Dominion a victory over Purdue in the second round of the NCAA Mideast Regional.
Old Dominion (31-1) trailed 57-49 with 6:30 to go, then went on an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to take the lead.
Eighth-seeded Purdue (17-11) tied the score 61-61 on a Stephanie White jumper with 12 seconds remaining.

At Chapel Hill, N.C., Chanel Wright hit a 25-footer to force overtime and Tracy Reid scored nine points in the extra period as top-seeded North Carolina rallied from 10 points down to beat Michigan State.
