Two Amish brothers are willing to risk being shot at or jailed rather than wear the worldly color of orange.

"We won't be wearing that color," Samuel Bontrager said Wednesday. "We are standing on our principle."Samuel and his brother, Joas, recently lost their bid to overturn a court ruling that says they must abide by state law and wear bright orange clothing while hunting, even on their own property.

The brothers belong to the Swartzentruber Amish sect, whose members have no cars, electricity, indoor plumbing or motorized farm equipment.

They are also forbidden from wearing bright colors, which is a sign of worldliness in a religion that demands they remain separate from the world.

But when caught without orange in 1994, the brothers were hauled in and fined $50.

"We will not pay that fine," Bontrager said. "We'd rather go to jail."
