Bob Dole has signed on with the Washington law firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand.
There will be several familiar faces in the new quarters of the former Senate majority leader and 1996 GOP presidential nominee - including former Democratic Senate colleagues George Mitchell of Maine and Lloyd Bentsen of Texas. In a statement Wednesday, the former Kansas senator said he was looking forward to this "nonpartisan reunion. The best part will be no filibusters, no cloture votes and no quorum calls."
Financial terms were not disclosed; Dole had made clear early in his search for a law firm that he would not engage in lobbying.
Dole said he would continue to lead the fund-raising effort for a World War II memorial planned for the National Mall.
