Six Utah science and math teachers have received Phillips 66-Utah Jazz Energy Excellence Awards.

Suzanne Michelle Evans of Valley Elementary in Huntsville won in the kindergarten through sixth grade category. Her students use principles of science and mathematics to design amusement park rides.Eli Douglas K. Pane'e of Oak Canyon Junior High in Lindon won in the seventh through 12th grade category. His entry involved a series of scientific demonstrations by students in the eighth and ninth grades.

Honorable-mention awards went to Kathleen Ochsenbein of Roy Junior High, David Thomas of Lynn Elementary in Ogden, Kristen Hadley of Fairfield Junior High in Kaysville and Brad Hawkes of Lincoln Elementary in Hyrum.

The schools of the two category winners each received $5,000 for curriculum development, and the schools of the honorable-mention winners each received $1,000.
