A man accused of raping a 9-year-old girl and spraying roach killer down her throat was injured from a possible fall in jail.
Patrick Sykes, 25, was hospitalized for blunt trauma Thursday after a guard found him lying face-down in a solitary confinement cell, the Cook County Sheriff's Department said. He was released from the hospital Friday.Officials at the county jail said Sykes has a history of seizures and appeared to be in convulsions when he was found bleeding from the nose and mouth.
The girl, who came to be known as Girl X, was walking home Jan. 9 at the crime-ridden Cabrini-Green public housing complex when she was dragged into an apartment and attacked.
