Jose Ignacio Delgado, 83, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, died April 4, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born July 31, 1913 in Del Cedro, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jose S. Miguel and Jovita V. Gomez Delgado. Married Armelinda Selia Tafoya on December 14, 1931. Later divorced. Married Ortencia Gomez in Elko, Nevada November 17, 1936. Member of the Catholic Church, St. Joseph The Worker Parish. Jose was retired from Kennecott Copper after 46 years of service, where he took great pride in his work. He enjoyed a good conversation about his experiences and many who have shared them have expressed how they enjoyed his story telling sessions. He spent the greater part of his time attending auctions, buying and selling. But his great love was still being with his family and eating "great food". He enjoyed hunting and fishing.Survivors: wife, Ortencia Gomez Delgado; children, Donna (Pablo) Irene, Mary Ellen (Ronald) Landers, Tony, Mike, Robert, David, Joseph (Judy) Delgado, Anita (Lloyd) Lovato; five generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; four sons and three grandsons; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church 7405 South 1700 West, West Jordan. Holy Rosary Tuesday 8 p.m.in the Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State, where friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9-9:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
