Our wife, mother, and grandmother, Thelma Golden Leany, 72, returned home to her Heavenly Father, on Monday, May 19, 1997.
Thelma was born Sept 30, 1924 in Nephi, UT, the daughter of Maber Gee and Mable Florence Sullivan Golden. She married Duane Jay Leany, July 5, 1947. their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. She attended school in Nephi, graduating from Juab High School in 1942. She was involved in glee, opera, debate, home economics club, swimming, and in the Girls Athletic Association - Lu dus. She also enjoyed participating in the "Hobbytographers" photo club. She was an active member of the LDS Church, where she served in the Mutual, Primary, and many years as secretary/treasurer of both the ward and stake Relief Societies, and earned recognition as a Golden Gleaner. She and her eternal companion, served an earthly mission in the "Family To Family Book of Mormon Program", and also volunteered many hours with this same program.She is survived by her husband, one son and four daughters, Richard Duane (Jane) Leany, Las Vegas, NV; Karen Rae (Dave) Gerrard, Clearfield, UT; JoAnne Leany, Salt Lake City; Lorilyn (Rick) Taylor, West Jordan; Cheryl Leany, Kapaau, HI; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Kallabacka, Provo; LaRae (Roy "Mickey") Robinson, Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 1997 at 12 noon in the Salt Lake Rose Park 4th Ward, 760 North 1200 W. friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Mortuary, 4335 West 4100 So. and Thursday, one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
