Salt Lake County fire investigators have ruled as accidental a house fire that resulted in $45,000 in damage Saturday. No one was injured.

The fire was started by a 4-year-old playing with a lighter wand commonly used to ignite barbecue grills, said inspector Chris Cage. The children were inside a split-entry home at 4539 S. Edgeware Lane (2350 West) while their parents were working in the yard, Capt. Sande Storms said.

The children dashed from the home about 12:30 p.m. to tell the pair a basement bedroom had caught fire, Storms said.
