Two Salt Lake teens were killed after the sport utility vehicle they were riding in plunged off a slick-rock cliff just east of here Friday, the Grand County Sheriff's Office reported.

Killed were:Jason Lindsey, 19

Wayne J. Cummings, 18

The pair had driven up Lion's Back - a steep, rocky area near the Slickrock bike trail - popular among four-wheeling enthusiasts, a dispatcher said.

But the vehicle they were riding in flipped at the top, rolled and fell off a north-end cliff, the sheriff's office reported.

The wreckage was discovered about 300 feet below the cliff around 8:10 p.m. by a group of four-wheeling enthusiasts, the sheriff's office reported.

Authorities believe the incident occurred between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. There were no witnesses.
