Christopher Wright Hartlauer, age 17, of Murray, died June 17, 1997 at Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of injuries received in an auto accident coming home from Red Lodge Ski Camp in Montana. Christopher died with his brother, Travis in the accident.

He was born September 3, 1979, at Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Walter Hurst Hartlauer and Terri Ann Wright Hartlauer. He has lived in Salt Lake City and Murray his entire life. He attended Highland Park Elementary, Horizon Elementary, Parkside Elementary, Hillcrest Junior High, and Murray High School.Christopher lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, water skiing, basketball and school band. He was the lead member of his neighborhood Rock'n Roll Band. His interests included astronomy and computers. He loved ski racing as a member of the Brighton Ski Team. One of his skiing goals was to go to a Junior Olympic level ski race, which he accomplished this last year at Big Mountain, Montana. He worked with his father at Hart Sign Company. He loved spending time with his family. He spent wonderful times with grandpa, Walter, traveling the world and making movies. Christopher enjoyed all his time spent with family, especially Dad and his Grandpa Dick! He had many friends who will miss him dearly.

Surviving are his parents, Wally and Terri Hartlauer, Salt Lake City; sister, Monica Hartlauer, age 14; brother, Derek Hartlauer, age 11; sister, Michela Hartlauer, age 7, all Salt Lake City; grandparents, Richard and Janice Wright, Idaho Falls, ID; grandparents, Walter and Thelma Hartlauer, Eugene, OR; great-grandparents, Delores and Ida Mae Hurst, Blanding, UT; and great-grandmother, Bessie W. Booth, Salt Lake City; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joint funeral services with his brother, Travis, will be held Friday, June 20, 1997, at 11 a.m., at the Alpine Rose Lodge at Brighton Ski Resort. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Murray, and for one hour prior to the services on Friday at Brighton Ski Resort.

Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls and Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Murray.
