Spectators line the top of Independence Rock as they watch modern pioneers pass along the same route that the Mormon pioneers used 150 years ago. Trekkers re-enacting the historic journey found the Wyoming landmark a welcome milestone in their travels, as did the early pioneers. The granite outcropping has cool pools of water on top and is inscribed with the names of hundreds of the pioneers who stopped at the site during the 1800s. See story on Page B2.
