Sandy man dies when car collides with his bullet bike

A Sandy man died Tuesday when the bullet bike he was riding collided with a car near 10100 S. State.

Killed was:Walter Portillo, 20, Sandy.

Portillo was traveling north on State Street at a high rate of speed about 10:45 p.m. when another driver pulled into the street ahead of him, preparing to change lanes, said Sandy Police Sgt. David Lundberg.

Unable to slow down, Portillo collided into the rear of the other vehicle, driven by Todd D. Milne, 32, from Sandy.

Witnesses said the impact sounded like an explosion, according to Lundberg. Portillo was killed instantly.
