Three people died and eight were injured in four separate highway accidents last weekend.

Killed were:Kellee D. Brown, 22, Emmett, Idaho.

Angelina Gifford, 6, Clearfield.

Michael Patrick Daugherty, 20, Northridge, Calif.

- Brown was struck by a semitrailer truck while attempting to flag down help after her vehicle rolled early Sunday about 10 miles south of Fillmore, the Utah Highway Patrol's Cedar City office reported.

Brown was driving north on I-15 around 3:30 a.m. when the vehicle drifted, the UHP reported. Brown overcorrected twice and the vehicle skidded into the median, rolled and landed in southbound lanes.

At least two passengers, identities unavailable, were ejected.

Brown, who was uninjured, attempted to flag down help. A semi driven by Marcin Kloc, Chicago, swerved to miss one victim lying in the roadway, skidded sideways and struck and killed Brown. The semi then struck the car, containing two other occupants who also were not identified. They were not seriously injured.

- Three hours later, a family of seven was traveling north on I-15 in Baker Canyon when their vehicle rolled three times just north of Cove Fort, UHP's Cedar City office reported.

Angelina Gifford was killed, and Talia Gifford, 12, and Ammon Gifford, 14, were transported via medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center, where they were in serious condition Tuesday, a spokeswoman said. All three were not wearing seat belts and were ejected, the UHP reported.

Carl Gifford, 28, who was wearing his seat belt, was partially ejected and transported via medical helicopter to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, the UHP reported. He was in critical condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Driver Legia Gifford, 35, and Caelyn Gifford, 9, were wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries, the UHP reported. D'lene Gifford, 11, was wearing a seat belt and was seriously injured.

- Daugherty was driving a pickup truck towing a station wagon south on I-15 around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. About 20 miles north of St. George, the towed vehicle fishtailed. Both vehicles slid into the median, separated, and the pickup rolled into oncoming traffic, the UHP in Salt Lake City reported.

The truck struck a car driven by Clinton Wadsworth, 24, Cedar City.

Daugherty, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and died, the UHP reported. Wadsworth was not injured. His wife, Cassie Wadsworth, 20, suffered minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

- David G. Oien, 38, Alaska, was critically injured after hitting a deer in Parowan Canyon Sunday.

Oien, who is employed at Zion National Park, was driving a motorcycle west on U-143 when he was thrown from the vehicle after hitting a deer. He was airlifted to Utah Valley Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Tuesday, a spokesman said.
