A man was executed by injection early Wednesday, 17 years after he bludgeoned, stabbed and strangled a mentally impaired woman during a robbery that netted $107.

Appeals were rejected up to late Tuesday on the state and federal levels, including two by the U.S. Supreme Court.William Woratzeck, 51, was convicted of beating Linda Leslie with a hammer, stabbing her three times and strangling her with his hands during the 1980 robbery.
