James J. Gosling has been named director of the University of Utah's Center for Public Policy and Administration.

He succeeds Ted Herbert, who headed the public policy center for 12 years. Herbert, a political science professor, will return to full-time teaching.Gosling, the former dean of continuing education, also will serve as associate dean for external affairs for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. He also will be responsible for legislative and governmental relations as well as student recruitment.
