Travis Compton, 29, eternal companion to Kristina and father to Kourtney (5) and Cody (21 months), died Saturday in Boise of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. He had been on a family reunion in Idaho.
More than anything else, Travis cherished his wife and two children and was eagerly anticipating a baby, who is expected in January. The couple married in 1991, and over the years, they presided over a home that was well-ordered, loving, happy and fun. Travis was patient, unselfish and had a wonderful sense of humor. The couple was in the process of adopting a child through Help & Rehabilitative Services. Travis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was honest, hard-working and thoughtful of others, always going out of his way to help people in need. His family knows they will be reunited with Travis and will live with him as a family eternally. Travis held many leadership positions in his church. Most recently, he volunteered several hours a week working with teenage boys. Travis showed the same selfless spirit in death as in life. Because of a donation of his organs, four people will live who otherwise may not have.
Travis joined Tropical Sportswear International in 1990, working in merchandising and systems. Now a vice president of distribution, some 450 associates reported to him.
Travis was born in Chehalis, Washington and grew up in Bountiful, Utah and El Paso, Texas.
Supported by a strong, close family, Travis is also survived by his parents, Bill and Linn, formerly of Boise; a brother, Tyler; two sisters, Caprice Schwarzwalder and Amanda Driggers; and two grandmothers, Billie Compton of Boise and Bette Anderson Wells of Arcadia, Calif.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tampa Stake Center, 4106 E.
