Delta Air Lines and SkyWest Airlines said Tuesday they have agreed to a five-year extension of their Delta Connections regional feeder arrangements in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles.
SkyWest also said it will fly some of its flights, primarily in California, but also to Phoenix and Las Vegas, under the United Express banner, the shuttle branch of United Airlines.SkyWest, based in St. George, will provide service as a commuter partner under the Delta code designator from Los Angeles to eight destinations.
Salt Lake City is Delta's third-largest hub with 177 Delta flights daily to 50 nonstop destinations and 101 SkyWest flights to 32 nonstop destinations.
At Los Angeles, Delta operates 61 flights daily with nonstop service to 21 destinations, while SkyWest offers 112 flights nonstop to 13 destinations.
The new Delta contract continues a marketing relationship begun in 1987, at the time of Delta's merger with Western Air Lines. The following year, Delta acquired 20 percent of the equity interest of SkyWest Inc.
The marketing agreement with United will provide connections for SkyWest and United passengers at Los Angeles International Airport.
A SkyWest spokeswoman said United Express will serve Orange County, Palm Springs San Diego, San Jose, Visalia, Santa Barbara and several other California cities.
It also will continue to serve eight California destinations as the Delta Connection carrier.
