Norma Hodgson Zinn Simmons, age 91, beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away Sunday, July 27, 1997 at the Beehive Homes of Centerville.
She was born March 23, 1906, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Leslie S. and Louie M. Taylor Hodgson. She married Overton Zinn on June 1, 1928, in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away on October 16, 1966. She married George F. Simmons on September 20, 1971, in Salt Lake City. He passed away on December 17, 1982.She had lived in Ogden all of her life, except for the past 12 years in Kaysville. She graduated from Ogden High School.
A member of the Kaysville Pond's Park LDS Ward. She served in various auxiliaries of the church, and enjoyed attending the temple. Norma spent her life serving others. Many people were blessed with her beautiful handwork. She felt honored to have been able to crochet an altar cloth for the Bountiful LDS Temple. She was a very special mother and she always had a story or a joke to tell. She loved her family. She especially loved children. She was known as "Grandma Norma". Even at 91, she was loving and kind to everyone. She is now with her sweetheart and loved ones who have gone ahead. What a wonderful reunion. We will surely miss her, and we feel blessed to have known her.
Surviving are one son, George Zinn, Salt Lake City; four daughters, Marion (DeWayne) Jay, Shirley Van Natter, Carolyn (Richard) Seager, all of Kaysville; Phyllis (Richard) Crouch, Bountiful; two stepsons, Robert Simmons, Salt Lake City; Loren Simmons, Ogden; two stepdaughters, Betty Lamoreaux, Newport Beach, CA.; Shirley McGrath, serving an LDS Mission in France; and one very special daughter-in-law, Lola Simmons, North Ogden. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Lu Homer, Salt Lake City; and Adele Morasse, Hurricane. Preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., July 31st, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main where friends and family may call Wed. from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment North Ogden Cemetery.
