Leland Stanford (Stan) Knight, 74, died July 2, 1997, from complications of diabetes.

He was born December 5, 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Margaret Davidson and Leland D. Knight. He attended schools in Ogden, Utah; Portland, Oregon; Vallejo, California; he got his BA and MA at Chico State University, Chico, CA, and his EdD at BYU. Active in the LDS Church, holding many positions in Ward, Stake and Region levels. He married Irene Standley on September 14, 1943 in the LDS Temple at Salt Lake City.He is survived by his wife, six children: Barbara (Rex) Hassard, Spanish Fork, UT; Marsha (Phillip) Rasmussen, Springville; Lorna (Gary) Cox, Woodland, CA; Alan Dale (Diane) Knight, Orem, UT; Gwendolyn (Wendy) Knight, Orem, UT; and Audrey (Kent) Mason, Bear River, UT. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Winsby and Blossom Janet Dill; and two brothers; Roland G. Knight and Kenneth O. Knight.

He was employed at Mare Island Navy Yard, Bank of America; Eureka, California and Chico, California Police Departments; Nord and Chico School Districts and Brigham Young University, where he taught Elementary Education for 21 years. In World War II he served in the Army Air Force. He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, teaching-especially children, and singing with his beautiful tenor voice.

Funeral services will be held on July 5, 1997 at 12 noon in the Geneva Heights 6th Ward Chapel, 500 North 900 West, Orem. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Services under the direction of Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary.
