The Utah State University Alumni Band will play a free concert at USU's Old Main Amphitheater in Logan at 7 this evening.

Conductor Nicholas Morrison will lead the band in a number of patriotic selections for this outdoor concert. Audience members will be invited to sing along as they salute America and its veterans. Will Kesling will be the vocal soloist. Patrons are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to be spread in surrounding areas.- VOCALISTS REBECCA GLADE and Steve Evans will present a night of "Broadway Classics" on Tuesday, July 8, in the Temple Square Assembly Hall.

Glade and Evans, who are both known locally for starring roles in "Promised Valley," will perform selections from "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables" and "West Side Story," accompanied by Denise Farrington on piano and Dean Kaelin on keyboard.

In other Assembly Hall programs this week, on Wednesday, July 9, soprano Diana Walker and pianist David Glen Hatch will present "David and Diana in Concert," featuring them in a variety of songs ranging from Broadway classics to Mozart and Mormon hymns, including some of Hatch's own arrangements.

Walker has appeared at Carnegie Hall and with the Seattle, St. Louis and Nice opera companies. Hatch has also performed at Carnegie Hall as well as the Kennedy Center and in Europe.

Thai pianist Indhuon Srika-ra-non-da will perform Friday, July 11. Her program will include Beethoven's Sonata in E flat major, Op. 27, No. 1, Liszt's "Vallee d'Obermann" and Ravel's "Jeux d'eau."

Srikaranonda began studying piano in her native Bangkok and has continued her studies in the United States. She earned music degrees from Oberlin College, Yale University and the Geneva Con-ser-va-toire.

She will also be appearing Saturday, July 12, in a trio concert featuring soprano Loh Siew-Tuan and clarinetist Peter Goldberg. Hailing from China, Loh has been a soloist in Venezuela, Germany and England. Goldberg, who is visiting from Bangkok, has appeared with the Promusica Woodwind Quintet, among other chamber groups.

Included on their program will be songs of Brahms, Schubert's "Arpeggione Sonata," Mozart's "Schon lacht der holde Fruehling" and Phyllis Tate's "Scenes From Tyneside."

Starting time for each is 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.

- THE NACHTMUSIK concert series continues with concerts at the Castle Amphitheater in Provo July 11-12 and 18-19 at 8 p.m.

Performed by a chamber orchestra in the clothing of Mozart's time, Friday's program will include Haydn's "Farewell" Symphony and Beethoven's "Creatures of Prometheus" Overture.

Saturday's program will consist of works about water and rain. Included will be excerpts from Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" and both Handel's and Telemann's "Water Music."

Each begins at 8 p.m., with tickets $8 for children and $12 for adults. Discounts for students, seniors, couples and families are available. Call 221-4599 for more information.

- THE BALLET CENTRE will present its annual "Ballet Under the Stars" concert at the Murray Park Amphitheater Friday and Saturday, July 11-12, at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. They can be purchased at Wright Costume, 4870 S. State, or at the gate.

The concert marks the Ballet Centre's 10-year anniversary and will include selections by Bethany Tuckett, Victor Gsovksy and director Michelle Armstrong.

- THE CHORAL ARTS Society of Utah will present a Pioneer Pops Concert on Saturday, July 12, at 8 p.m. at Abravanel Hall.

Under the baton of Sterling Poulsen, more than 100 voices and a full symphony orchestra will perform patriotic and show tunes as a tribute to retired local maestro Eugene Jelesnik.

The singing group Envoy and the Brewster Family Fiddlers will also join the choir for a family-oriented program.

There is no charge for admission.
