Timely pit stops and patient driving worked wonders for Randy LaJoie in the Sears Auto Center 250.
The defending NASCAR Busch Series champion took the lead on the 232nd of 250 laps Sunday, and held on for his fourth victory of the year."I'm glad it was only a 250-lapper," said LaJoie, who has nine career Grand National victories. "We didn't have the best race car today, but we did have the best pit crew."
Elliott Sadler finished second, followed by his brother Hermie, defending champion Buckshot Jones and rookie Steve Park.
A crash with two laps remaining dashed any hopes of a repeat of last year's photo finish. Dick Trickle, Kevin Lepage, Todd Bodine and Chris Diamond were involved in accidents on lap 248 that brought out the yellow.
Trickle and Lepage collided in turn three, while Bodine, who was headed toward the start-finish line, tangled with Diamond, a rookie, in turn four.
LaJoie regained the lead in the standings, after losing it last week at Watkins Glen. He leads Bodine by 32 points after 18 of 30 races.
Jones looked like he might become the first repeat winner at the Milwaukee Mile, taking the lead for the first time at lap 191. But he had to pit on lap 222 for fuel. Trickle took the lead, but he also had to stop.
