The Green Bay Packers have settled contract terms with at least one of their "Bretts."

No, Brett Favre hasn't yet reached agreement on the new deal he hopes will make him the top-paid quarterback in the NFL.The Packers announced Tuesday they signed rookie kicker Brett Conway, a third-round draft pick out of Penn State, on the same day that former Packer kicker Chris Jacke signed a three-year deal with Pittsburgh.

The Packers did not release any details of the contracts for Conway or other rookies who had to be signed in order to report to training camp.

But Conway's three-year deal was reported to include a $290,000 signing bonus and base salary of $151,000 in 1997, and a total value of about $875,000. The Packers reportedly had offered Jacke $400,000 to re-sign for this year prior to the selection of Conway in the draft.

By late Tuesday, Green Bay also had signed linebacker Anthony Hicks, a fifth-round pick from Arkansas; wide receiver Chris Miller, a seventh-round choice from Southern California, and quarterback Ronnie McAda, a seventh-round pick from Army.

First-round pick Ross Verba, a tackle from Iowa, had not yet signed.

Also unsigned were defensive back Darren Sharper, a second-round pick from William & Mary; defensive tackle Jermaine Smith, a fourth-round pick from Georgia, and running back Jerald Sowell, a seventh-round selection from Tulane.

Conway made 73.8 percent of his field goal tries and won all Big-Ten honors last season. He kicked three game-winning kicks in college, including a 25-yarder that beat Wisconsin in Madison last fall.

Jacke spent eight seasons with the Packers and helped them to their first Super Bowl championship in almost three decades in January before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

The 820 points he scored for Green Bay is three short of the career record for the Packers.

In April, the Packers drafted Conway and told Jacke they were no longer interested in him.
