Viola Schwendiman Romney Thomas, 95, passed away peacefully on August 10, 1997 in San Diego, California.

She was born September 15, 1901 in Teton City, Idaho to Fred and Ethel Williams Schwendiman. Married Douglas Pratt Romney in Salt Lake City in 1920. He preceded her in death in 1928. They had two children, Eila Mae and Douglas Romney. She married S. Gifford Talbot in 1929, who died in 1946. In 1959, she married Ralph E. Thomas. He died in 1981.Viola was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. Despite many trials in her life, she remained positive and became a successful businesswoman in Southern California. She lived in Palm Springs and Santa Monica for 40 years prior to moving to Lake San Marcos (San Diego).

Her son, Douglas, preceded her in death May 3, 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Eila Mae Dana (Darrell) of Sandy; two brothers, Lynn A. Schwendiman (Gladys) of Salt Lake City, and Rex E. Schwendiman (Mary) of Bountiful; seven grandchildren, Patricia Carpenter, Marcia Aird, Ken Dana, and Chris, Karen, Mark and Michelle Romney; several great and great great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 1997 at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
