Elizabeth Annette Carwin (Betty) Karr, age 58, of Orem, was called home on Sunday, August 17, 1997, to return to her Father in Heaven due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Betty started her life on earth, August 20, 1938 in Alamosa, Colorado, daughter of Marvin L. and Gladys A. Carwin. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life. She earned the Golden Gleaner Award. She received a scholarship to Colorado University. She then served a stake mission in Denver, Colorado. She was married to Donald V. Karr on February 5, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their first home in Denver, CO, then moved to Sandy, UT and settled in Orem, UT in 1964. She was active in Eagle Forum as a lobbyist at the Utah State Legislature. She served faithfully in many callings in the church. She will be most dearly remembered as a daughter, wife and mother who loved and sacrificed for her family and gave of her time to anyone who was in need.She is survived by her husband, Donald V. Karr, Orem, UT; children, Mark and Julie Karr, Pleasant Grove, UT; Kathy and Kevin Bascom, Orem, UT; Trent and April Karr, Layton, UT; Tyler and Debbie Karr, Sandy, UT; Kevin and Jennifer Karr, Orem, UT; Shawn and Martha Karr, Orem, UT; Bryan Karr and Jaren Karr, both of Orem, UT; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Kameron, Joshua, Jessica, Devin, Tiffany, Michael, Alexia, Ariel, Ryan, Mitchell, Brandon and Brittany. She is also survived by her parents, Marvin and Gladys Carwin, Sandy, UT; brothers and sisters, Wayne Carwin; Katherine Vise; Kenneth Carwin; and Carol Crofoot. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Brett W. Karr.

Funeral services to honor her memory will be held Thursday, August 21, 1997, Canyon View Stake Center, 575 E. 800 N., Orem, 11 a.m. Friends may call Wednesday, August 20, 1997, 7-9 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 600 E. 800 N., Orem, and Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
