Our beloved, Gary Vanor Okerlund, age 39, died August 17, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah of complications from a motorcycle accident he was involved in on Saturday in Emery County.
He was born Aug. 28, 1957 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Vanor and Gloria Giles Okerlund. He married Sherrie Dawn Fillmore Gardner, Jan. 11, 1992, in Las Vegas, NV. He was a farmer and thoroughly enjoyed it. He liked to hunt. He enjoyed animals, especially his horses. He enjoyed collecting guns and riding his motorcycle.He loved his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Sherrie, of Cleveland; her two daughters, LynDawn and Sarah Gardner, both of Cleveland; his mother, Gloria Giles Lemmon, Hanksville; his father, Vanor and Dorothy Okerlund, Lyman, Utah; his brothers and sisters, Randy Okerlund, Cleveland; Lynda and Joe Brown, Loa; Kerrie and Lane Larsen, Huntington; Peggy Jo and Seth McCourt, Clawson; Brandon and Wendy Okerlund, Island Park, Idaho; his mother and father-in-law, Freda and Merrill Fillmore, Cleveland; his grandmother, Jessie Giles, Bicknell. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Henry Giles, Zelda and Rulon Okerlund.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 1997 at 12 noon in the Huntington 3rd LDS Ward Chapel in Huntington, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Huntington, Thursday morning from 10 to 11:30 prior to the services. Graveside services and burial will be Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Lyman, Utah Cemetery under the direction of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
