New businesses are springing up along both the north and south access routes of I-70 in Richfield. One has just opened along the south route, and plans have been announced for another near the northern interchange.
Hogi Yogi just opened in the south part of the city, and Frontier Village, a $400,000 venture in the north, is in the development stage.Hogi Yogi was opened under the franchised ownership of Blaine and Paula Michaelsen. The Michael-sens said they anticipate a work force of 15 employees.
The fast-food outlet serves low-fat sandwiches, non-fat sugar-free yogurt and a new fruit-blend beverage. The facility has inside seating for 46 customers and can accommodate more people with additional tables on a patio. It also has a drive-through window.
Meanwhile, Deseret Certified Development Co., a Utah-based small-business finance company, obtained a Small Business Administration loan for Frontier Village. Company personnel work with local banking institutions to acquire long-term financing aid for small- and medium-size businesses. Last year it was successful in obtaining $77 million in commercial loans.
Frontier Village will feature a restaurant and gift shop in a 4,600-square-foot building near the north I-70 interchange, according to owner Stan Gleave.
He said plans call for adding Gardner Village at a later date. Frontier Village will provide an outlet for the sale of craft items from Gardner Village.
