A strong and beautiful spirit has rejoined her Heavenly Father. SaraLue Turpin passed away quietly in the home she loved, August 27, 1997 after a valiant fight with bone cancer. Sara's strength and determination during her four year ordeal has been a source of inspiration to all that knew her.
Sara was born October 6, 1965 in West Valley City, Utah. She lived all of her life in Magna, where she attended local schools. She attended the Salt Lake Community College where she made the Dean's list. In 1986, Sara joined the Air Force where she served until 1993 when she received an Honorable Discharge related to her illness. She made E-5 rank as a Staff Sergeant with the 419th Fighter Wing. She was awarded "Airman of the Year" in 1989. Sara was employed with Tel America of Salt Lake City from 1986 to 1997. While there she made many friends among her fellow employees and customers. Sara was a member of Toastmaster's International from 1991 to 1996, where she served twice as Educational Vice President and once as President.Sara's life long dream to travel was accomplished by visiting Mexico, Canada, Ireland, Germany, Honduras, England, Bahamas, the Western Caribbean, and most of the United States. She loved to ride her motorcycle and had many adventures with her sister MaryEllen and friends.
Sara is survived by her father, Wayne Turpin, of Magna, mother, Helen Thomas Harris, of Modena, her brothers and sisters, HelenMay, Danny, Erland, Mildred, David, MaryEllen, Jerry, EddyDeen, and Grant. Sara also leaves behind 28 nieces and nephews to whom she has been and will remain a dear aunt.
The family wishes to express their love and give special thanks to Phil Prince, doctor and friend Anna Beck, Pat Lorenzo, Sherri Grandy, Lisa Hakanson, Debbie Wright, Barbara Franz of vista Hospice, Vivian Watson of Coram, all of Sara's friends and co-workers at Tel America, and the Duckworth and Ward Families. Additionally, a special thank you is extended to Don, Christopher, and Jillian Rowley for their patience and understanding during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held Saturday August 30, 1997 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Green Ward, 8739 W. 3000 So. Friends may call Friday 7-9 p.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 So., Magna, and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Children's Miracle Network.
