Eugene Wallace Perry proclaimed his innocence in the shooting deaths of a jeweler and his daughter, recited a Buddhist chant and then was executed by injection.
Ruth Staton Morrison, the wife and mother of the two killed in the 1980 robbery, watched the execution Wednesday night on closed-circuit television."I've waited 17 years for this day," Morrison said after the execution. "I felt like justice was served, very sadly. But closure - I'm still not sure what that is."
Kenneth Staton and his daughter Suzanne Staton Ware were bound, gagged and shot twice during the robbery of their Van Buren store.
