Byron W. Allred, age 74, died August 6, 1997 at his home in Salina.

He was born October 28, 1922 in Redmond, Utah, to William Burton and Lillian Anderson Allred. He married Elaine Horne, July 21, 1942 in Farmington, Utah; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Byron was a member of the Jaycees and the Lions Club. He had been the president of the Water Hollow Cattle Association and also one of the local irrigation companies. He loved to fish, hunt, going in the mountains, camping and horseback riding. He had a wonderful sense of humor and has many friends. He loved his family and was one of the best joke tellers around.He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Salina; daughter, Gailya Utley, of Magna; sons, Ron Allred, of Redmond; and Bill Allred, of Aurora; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Burton (Laween) Allred, of Salina; sister, Vanese (Keith) Barrett, of Salina; sister-in-law, Carol Lee Allred, of Murray. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lowell Allred.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 1997, at 11 a.m. in the Salina LDS Stake Center. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home in Salina, and again on Saturday, at the stake center, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Redmond City Cemetery, under the direction of Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home.
