A West Jordan man died Sunday from injuries suffered when he fell about 20 feet while working in a Kearns grocery store.

Killed was:Chris Kingery, 18, West Jordan.

Kingery suffered severe head injuries when he fell from the pallet he was standing on Saturday at 8:26 p.m. while he was working at Harmon's, 4874 W. 6200 South, said Salt Lake County Fire Capt. Jim Anderson.

Kingery was apparently standing on pallets that were loaded on the tines of a forklift, Anderson said. The forklift was lifting the pallets, loaded with merchandise, into the air when it hit a hand truck, Anderson said.

The impact rocked the forklift, and Kingery, who was riding on the pallets, fell about 20 feet onto the warehouse floor. He was semi-conscious when firefighters arrived but never spoke to them, Anderson said.
