Jed D. Hamblin, age 42, fought a valiant fight, which ended in the presence of his loved ones the afternoon of September 4, 1997.
He was born May 26, 1955 in Ogden, Utah, the son of David Don and Emma Thomas Hamblin. He married Tami Morgan on August 19, 1986. Jed cherished his family. His two daughters, Joey and Brittnay, were the true loves in his life. Corbin, his only grandchild, brought much joy and happiness to him. Jed loved working with the Rubin family and associates at his home away from home - SavOn Sporting Goods. His contribution was the love and kindness he showed to his friends and customers through the years.He is survived by his two daughters, Joey Fuit and Brittnay Hamblin; grandson, Joshua Corbin Medina, all of Roy; his mother, Emma T. Hamblin, Ogden; four sisters and three brothers, Karen (Dave) Shipley, Layton; JoAnn (Steve) Harris, Roy; Janet (Kay) Christensen, Uintah; Gwen (Mike) Hall, Centerville; Michael Hamblin, SLC; Dave (Colene) Hamblin, Riverdale; Bob (Kathy) Hamblin, Roy; and fifteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, David Don Hamblin.
Jed was an outstanding example of courage and determination. In spite of being confined to a wheelchair and always with pain for over 20 years, he still loved life. He was involved in many activities, including wheelchair basketball and little league baseball, coaching and participating. He also enjoyed family outings and being with friends.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 9, 11 a.m. at Leavitt's Chapel of Flowers Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
The family sends a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at McKay Dee Hospital, the University of Utah, and also to the Bonneville Dialysis Center.
