Rick Craig, executive vice president of America First Credit Union for 19 years, has been named president of the organization, replacing James J. Dawson, who retired after 38 years of service.
Craig has been a director of the Credit Union Executives Society for seven years, was inducted in that group's hall of fame in 1996 and has been chairman of the board. He has a bachelor's degree from Weber State University and a master's degree from the University of Utah.Dawson started at the credit union in 1960 as accounting chief. He later was the comptroller, operations manager and has been president since 1971. During his tenure, the credit union grew from $29 million in assets and 39,000 members to $1.2 billion in assets and 225,000 members.
In June 1991 he was appointed to the board of directors of the Utah League of Credit Unions and in June 1989 was appointed to the Governors Board of Credit Union Advisors and became chairman in June 1993.
