H.J. Milligan, 76, passed away Thursday, January 8, 1998 in the Salt Lake LDS Hospital, due to complications following heart surgery.
He was born in Amalga, Utah, March 13, 1921, to John and Ruby Hancey Milligan. He was raised in Lewiston and graduated from North Cache High School. He studied pre-dental at Utah State University in Chicago as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He served as a dentist in the Navy during World War II. He married Edna May Prigmore, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, November 20, 1946. For 32 years he practiced dentistry in Logan. He was elected to the Logan School Board for three terms. He was a director of Logan Savings and Loan for 29 years. He was an active member of Rotary for many years.H.J. was always active in the LDS Church, having served as a bishop and in other ward and stake callings. He and his wife served in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; six children, Jean (Ron) Malouf, Vernal, Utah; Marilyn (Gary) Adams, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Kathryn (Reed) Conlin, Millville, Utah; Marsha (Ralph) Walker, Highland Ranch, Colorado; Kent (Debra) Milligan, North Salt Lake, Utah; and Ronald (Jodie) Milligan, Bountiful, Utah. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a sister, Helen Milligan, of Logan. He was preceded in death by an infant son, James Keith, two brothers, Warren and Jack and one sister, Donna Sperry.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 12, at 11 a.m. in the Logan 11th-13th LDS Chapel, 195 South 100 East, Logan. A viewing will be held Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, and at the church, Monday morning one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery.
