Edna Bertha Peterson Cochran, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 1998, at the home of her daughter, Judy. As in all things in life, she lived courageously until the end, caring for the well-being of others. She remained gracious and noble until the end.

Her life began July 6, 1910, at St. Charles, Id. She was born to Alvin and Bertha Benson Peterson. She writes that her home life was very happy with three brothers and six sisters. Edna wrote, "My real life began when I met Roy Charles Cochran." They were married Oct. 15, 1927, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She served in the Primary for over 25 years, was Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Stake Young Women's President, and Stake Primary President, plus many other positions. Her greatest love in the church was serving with her husband in the Salt Lake Temple as an Ordinance Worker for over six years.

Edna is survived by two daughters, Annette and Glade Nielsen of Salt Lake, Judy and Jack Starley of Provo, Utah; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Roy Jr., two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, at 3 p.m. in the South Cottonwood Seventh Ward at 1250 East 4800 South in Salt Lake, where friends may call that afternoon from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Montpelier, Idaho Cemetery at 12 noon on Saturday, with services under the direction of the Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
