JonBenet Ramsey's parents have refused to sit for a second interview with police unless they are allowed to review evidence, a condition that won't be met, police said.
John and Patsy Ramsey were interviewed separately by police April 30, after protracted negotiations over the conditions.John Ramsey found his daughter's body Dec. 26, 1996, in the basement of the family home. She had been beaten and strangled and may have been sexually assaulted. No arrests have been made.
Police said Thursday they sought the second interview to clarify previous statements and to ask questions raised by new information.
Investigators will not honor the Ramseys' request to review evidence because that could "hamper the effectiveness of the investigation."
Police also said the Ramseys' demand to only answer written questions was unacceptable.
