A couple is seeing red over a gray M&M.
Dennis and Colleen Ocker have sued M&M-Mars Inc., saying the candy giant defaulted on the $1 million prize in its "imposter gray M&M" contest. The Ockers came across the discolored candy March 11, according to the lawsuit filed in December in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court. And now they want their money.
The contest rules read: "If you find gray M&M Chocolate Candies in your bag and the game piece inside reads `Instant Winner,' you may have won $1,000,000."
M&M-Mars spokeswoman Pat D'Amato said the contest requires the finding not just the M&M but the game piece. The Ockers say M&M-Mars was negligent in not including the game piece with the bag of candy.
They are keeping their piece of candy in a safe-deposit box. D'Amato said M&M has awarded two $1 million contest prizes.
