One of the good guys, our hero, Jay Karl Timpson, 63, of Midvale, passed away from complications of heart disease on January 4, 1998. He left this world to go to a much brighter star. He was such a valiant warrior.
He was born to George Emery and Beda Charlotte Johnson, in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 19, 1934. He graduated from East High School and served a mission for the LDS Church in the California/Arizona Mission. He married H. Janet White in 1957, later divorced. Married Lila Mae Conk on January 19, 1984.He is survived by his wife, Lila; mother-in-law, Erma Conk; and his eight children, Annette Welch (Paul), Rachelle Silcox (Paul), Charlotte Neufeld (Brad), Kathy Bye (Pete), Mike (Monica), Jon (Carrie), Jennifer and Elizabeth Timpson; 21 grandchildren; his brothers, Robert (Phebe), Richard (Drew) and Donald (Beverly). Preceded in death by his father and mother.
He was a retired postal worker of 25 years and a dedicated temple worker. During his visit here he served various positions in the church. Words cannot express how greatly he will be missed by all his many friends and family. He was a devoted father and loving husband. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors at the LDS CCU/TIC units. The care and love given to our father as well as our family is greatly appreciated.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 8, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State St., from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held Friday, January 9, at the Midvale 2nd Ward, 7250 So. 300 East, at 11 a.m. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
