Honda will make another effort to increase its share of the U.S. minivan market with its redesigned '99 Odyssey, which will be priced starting at $23,200 when it goes on sale later this month.

The new Odyssey is larger and more powerful than its predecessor, features dual sliding doors and a third-row bench seat that folds into the floor to create more cargo space. It is about the size of the Dodge Caravan and comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, replacing the previous model's four-cylinder engine. Honda says the new engine meets California's low-emission vehicle standard for light trucks.

Prices will range up to $25,800 for the loaded EX model, American Honda Motor Co. announced Thursday.
