- ROBERT CREELEY, a father of the current generation of American poets, will be reading from his work on Thursday, Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m. at the Art Barn, 54 Finch Lane.
A native of New England, Creeley has been a citizen of the world. He was a pioneer in the Black Mountain School of Poetry, a cadre of American writers who broke with convention and established new norms for verse. His "bass line" theory of poetic rhythm and spare - though musical - style became an influence on hundreds of young poets. Creeley's most recent collection of verse is "Life & Death." A reception will follow his reading. Call 596-5000 for details. The event is sponsored by the Salt Lake City Arts Council and the U.- IGINIA BOCALANDRO will teach the techniques of "Rolfing" - a body manipulation discipline for good health - on Monday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m., at Golden Braid Book, 151 S. 500 East.
